I simply "mother the new mother".

View My Postpartum Doula Philosophy

As a Certified Postpartum Doula I help women through their postpartum period and nurture the whole family. I enable new mothers and fathers to feel confident in their ability to care for their infant. I can relieve some of the pressure on the new mother by helping her move into her new responsibilities gradually. I make sure that the new mother feels nurtured and cared for, as well as making sure she is eating and getting enough sleep. I assist with breastfeeding, mother and newborn care, twin care and adjustment,  nursery organization and set up for new baby, light household duties, sibling care, prepare light meals, arrange food trains among family and friends, grocery shopping, laundry, or run other necessary errands. What I do as a postpartum doula changes from day to day, as the needs of the family change.

Without taking the place of a medical professional I help assist with questions and provide resources for frequently asked questions of a new mom. I help parents to recognize their own abilities as parents and enjoy the parent bonding with their child.

By using my natural gifts and talents, I provide the guidance and support that families traditionally received from family members or experienced mothers in their community. I am trained to provide appropriate and non-judgmental support, information and practical assistance to new mothers and their families. I do not offer medical assessment or give medical advice. If I am concerned about you or your baby, or you are concerned about yourself or the baby, I will recommend the appropriate resources.

Choosing a Postpartum Doula

Your Postpartum Doula will be an important part of your life for a short time. It is important that you find someone with whom you feel completely comfortable with, to invite into you home. You will be considering not only skills and competency, but also personality and style. I always hope that I can provide the support that a family may need but if I am not the person to fit exactly with your requirements, I may be able to help you to locate someone that is.
